O-ring fittings could be either adjustable or not. Non adjustable fittings are screwed into a port where no alignment is needed. The other one adjustable fittings can be oriented into a specific direction.
SAE O-ring fittings are straight thread that sealed through a O-ring between the thread and the wrench fats. The O-ring seals against the machined seat on the female side.
A Fitting with O-ring has more advantages than metal-to metal fittings which without o-ring seal. Under any fitting can allow leakage, but all-metal fittings are easiere to leakage because they tightening by higher and narrower torque range. This makes it easier to strip threads or crack fitting components, which prevents proper sealing.
Leaks also could be caused by vibration, thermal cycling and from loads being supported by the connection.
